At Home With Mademoiselle Privé
As mentioned in my previous blog, I'll be sharing a lot of archive post(s). First up, my visit to the Mademoiselle Privé Chanel exhibition that took place in London Saatchi Gallery in 2015.
Chanel is one of my favourite designers and has been for the past 3-4yrs, I love the craftsmanship, passion and all the detail of each collection, not to mention, all the work that goes into one garment.
Chanel doesn't come to London often, so, hearing that it'll be in London was a must see for me, I went to visit this exhibition three times in order to get the most of everything!!! On my first visit, I attended two workshops which was hosted by the famous Maison Lesage and Maison Lemarié which Chanel now owns.
Maison Lesage does embroidery for Haute Couture, Ready-to-wear and accessories. Maison Lemarié specialises in feather and handmade flower creations for each Chanel collection, which often involves smocking, ruffles and pleats. After completing the both 45min workshop, I didn't finish my embroidery piece or my feather and hand made flowers. However, being able to spend time with two of the worlds most famous specialist Maisons was more than enough for me. I left feeling inspired, having a better understanding of craftsmanship and couture allowed me to experience how much work and passion goes into each Chanel collection season after season.
