Woven Textiles

Woven Textiles

After years of procrastination, I finally decided to travel down to a particular textiles shop, from the moment I walked through the doors, I knew this would be a regular place that I’ll be visiting and shopping for some of my textiles. There’s so much yarn and colours to choose from, plus two walls filled with books all on the topic of textiles. As they say, it’s like walking into a candy store, with so many options to choose from.

What is Woven textiles?

“Woven textiles is fabric made by interlacing the threads of the weft and the warp on a loom to form a piece of fabric or cloth”

Woven textiles has always been something that I’ve loved, from ever since I was in college, having based a lot of my projects around the English textiles designer William Morris, and then having the chance to study it at university, working on a traditional loom which I hated in the beginning but later on loved.

Today I bought all the relevant things I need to get back into weaving, my hand loom is arriving from Belgium soon. I want to have everything ready, so I can jump straight into creating samples, exploring with texture and to get familiar with working on a hand loom in comparison to working on a traditional loom. Once it arrives, I’ll make sure to share some of my work with you.
